Heinz Beanz Fridge Pack

For me there has never been a better bean than Heinz Beanz. I have tried other brands but somehow they just don’t taste quite right. So I was interested to learn that they were launching a new Heinz Beanz Fridge Pack. How many times have you opened a can of beans, only eaten half and ended up throwing the rest away? In our house we suffer from this problem. Garden Dad and I used to share a tin on toast, but now our Little Garden Helpers are having some too, one tin isn’t quite enough. They don’t have portions as big as us though, so there is always some left over in the second tin. The Fridge Pack however, holds the equivalent of 2 and a half tins and is resealable for storing in the fridge for up to 5 days. This is in comparison to the ‘eat within 2 days of opening’ that you get with a tin. For us the fridge pack contains just the right amount of beans for 2 meals so we can pop the second half  in the fridge for later in the week.

You don’t have to transfer left over beans into a tuppaware so there is less washing up and you can keep the beans for longer if they are purchased in the Fridge Pack so you do not have to have beans two days running or end up wasting the left overs. The Fridge Pack has also been specifically designed to fit on a fridge shelf  and has a handy measure on the side so you can see how much you are using. We think it is a good idea and they hit the supermarket shelves in September at a recommended retail price of £1.79. This is slightly more expensive than the equivalent amount in tins but this is perhaps balanced by the fact you won’t waste as much, so the contents will go further.

  • Brilliant piece of marketing really. Why should beans have to be packed in cans if it saves on using a can opener and carrying all those separate tins from the shops every week!
